How to download and export inspection data, reports, and videos
Last updated: March 3, 2026
This guide covers how to download reports, videos, and complete project data from Pioneer inspections. Before starting any download or export process, ensure your inspection is completed and you have the appropriate user permissions.
User Role Permissions
Your ability to download certain types of data depends on your user role:
Viewer Role: Can only generate reports without videos. Cannot export video packages, even for large inspection datasets.
Full Access Users (Admin and Edit): Can download all content types including videos, reports, and complete project packages.
If you need access to specific project content, the project owner must explicitly invite you as a user. Viewer access is project-specific and doesn't grant access to other projects or accounts.
Downloading Complete Projects
To download entire projects to external storage or your computer for offline viewing:
Navigate to your project using the filter bar at the top of Pioneer
Use the export function to package the entire project data
Go to your downloads page and wait for the zip file option to appear
Always use the zip icon on the download page instead of downloading files individually
Download the zip file to your desired location
Download Method Selection
Large packages: Use the zip file download option after "acceptance" of the submittal from within Pioneer for better stability
Small packages: Cloud download is only recommended for quick downloads of one or two inspections or PDF reports
Best Practices for Downloads
Download to local drives first, then move files afterward. Downloading directly to network drives can cause delays and instability
Files may continue generating after Pioneer shows "100% complete," so wait for all files to populate before disconnecting when using the cloud download option
Download packages expire after 30 days and will need to be re-generated if older than this timeframe
Downloading Individual Reports
To download reports for specific inspections:
Select your completed inspection from the dashboard
Choose from three download options based on your needs:
Quick Report: Streamlined report for immediate sharing or job site posting
Generate Report: Comprehensive report with customization options
Export: Data export for integration with other systems
Note: Export functionality will not be available if there are NASSCO issues with the inspection.
Downloading Videos with Annotations
When exporting videos with annotations:
Select your completed inspection
In the Text and Annotation options, ensure you select 'Distance (added by SewerAI)'
This setting is required for proper video distance information and prevents blank distance counters for video exports
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Downloads Stuck at "Fetching Files"
If your download is stuck at the fetching stage:
Check if your download package is older than 30 days - expired packages need to be re-generated
Re-run the export process to create a new download package
Incomplete Downloads and CRSWAP Files
If you see CRSWAP files or downloads stuck at 99%:
CRSWAP files are temporary file pieces created during individual file downloads
This indicates an incomplete download - restart using the zip download method
You can safely delete incomplete download folders and CRSWAP files
Always use the zip icon on the download page instead of downloading files individually
Export Package Corruption
Export failures can occur due to illegal characters in data fields, particularly in Pipe Segment Reference numbers:
Symptoms:
ZIP downloads missing videos and reports when extracted
Downloads stalling at 99% with unplayable videos
Prevention:
Avoid using Shift+Enter when filling inspection fields
Check Pipe Segment Reference numbers for extra spaces or hidden characters
Ensure field entries don't contain newline characters (\n)
Resolution:
Edit the inspection data to remove illegal characters and re-run the export
Contact support if you need assistance identifying and removing illegal characters
