SOP: Using Filters, Bookmarks, and Column Views in Pioneer
Objective
This How-to explains how to use Pioneer’s updated filters, bookmarks, and column picker to quickly find records, customize views, and save commonly used layouts. It is designed to help team members work faster with fewer clicks while keeping their preferred views organized and reusable.
Key Steps
1. Access bookmarks and filters from the top of the page 0:24
Locate the Bookmarks area at the top of the page.
Use bookmarks to save views you return to often.
Use the + button to create a new bookmark when needed.
2. Manage bookmarks for easier organization 0:34
Update bookmark settings to make saved views easier to identify.
Change the icon for a bookmark to visually distinguish it.
Rename bookmarks so the purpose of each view is clear.
Duplicate bookmarks when you want a similar view without starting over.
Delete bookmarks that are no longer needed.
Use the bookmark update option when you want to save changes permanently.
3. Search and apply filters using type-ahead suggestions 0:45
Open filters by clicking the filter area or pressing F.
Start typing the filter name or value instead of scrolling through lists.
Use the predictive suggestions to quickly find the correct filter.
Select the suggested filter or value to apply it.
Example: type "Aug" to find an August-related project.
4. Add and refine multiple filters 1:16
Press F again to add another filter after the first one is applied.
Type the filter name, such as inspection date, to locate it quickly.
Use common options at the top of the list when available.
Type a value such as last three months to narrow results.
Continue adding filters as needed to refine the dataset.
5. Use broader filtering across Pioneer data 1:45
Take advantage of the expanded filtering capability to search beyond the old dropdown limitations.
Use filters to find nearly any field available in Pioneer.
When searching for related asset data, use the unified asset ID filter instead of guessing the exact asset type.
Example: type GM333 and choose either the AI filter or asset ID contains to return all matching records.
6. Customize columns with the improved column picker 2:15
Open the column picker to adjust which fields appear in your view.
Add any available column in Pioneer, not just a limited subset.
Remove columns you do not need to reduce clutter.
Use the column picker to tailor the view to your current task.
7. Start from a preset view when applicable 2:29
Choose from the available preset views: PACP, MACP, LACP, or the default out-of-the-box view.
Select the preset that best matches the type of inspection or work you are reviewing.
Use the preset as a starting point before making additional changes.
8. Modify and save bookmark-specific column layouts 2:42
Open the relevant bookmark, such as a MACP inspections bookmark.
Turn off columns you do not need, such as pipe segment reference.
Add columns you do need, such as cover size.
Drag columns left or right to arrange them in the preferred order.
Look for the small dot indicator on the bookmark, which means the bookmark has unsaved changes.
Click Update Bookmark to save the new column layout for future use.
9. Review the updated statistics area 3:31
Check the statistics area after applying filters or changing views.
Only the statuses relevant to the current view are shown.
Hidden statuses remain available and will appear when they become relevant.
Use this cleaner display to focus on the most important status information.
10. Confirm changes and use the workflow efficiently 3:47
Verify that your filters, columns, and bookmarks reflect the intended view.
Expect the updated workflow to use the same number or fewer clicks than before.
Save frequently used configurations so they are ready the next time you log in.
Provide feedback to the product team if you encounter issues or have suggestions.
Cautionary Notes
Unsaved bookmark changes are temporary until you click Update Bookmark.
The small dot on a bookmark indicates that the view has been modified but not yet saved.
If you navigate away without updating, the changes may remain during the session but will not persist after logout.
Some statistics may be hidden by default; this is expected and depends on the current filter context.
Tips for Efficiency
Press F to open filters quickly instead of clicking through menus.
Type part of a filter name or value to use predictive search and reduce scrolling.
Use the unified asset ID filter when you do not know the exact asset type.
Start with a preset view, then customize columns to save time.
Save frequently used layouts as bookmarks so you can return to them instantly.
Remove unnecessary columns to keep views clean and easier to scan.
