Understanding and Resolving NASSCO Issues in Inspections
Last updated: April 15, 2026
NASSCO validation issues can prevent inspections from being completed or exported. This guide outlines the most common causes and how to resolve them.
Common NASSCO Issues and Solutions
1. End Code Timing Issues
One of the most common issues occurs when the final AMH (Assessment of Manhole) or end code is placed too close to—or exactly at—the end of the video.
How to resolve:
Enter the final AMH (or other end code) before stopping the recording
Pause briefly, then complete the inspection
Ensure a 1–2 second buffer between the final code and the end of the video
2. Missing Required Fields
Certain NASSCO codes require additional fields to be completed for validation.
How to resolve:
Confirm all required fields and measurements are filled in
For codes like ISSRL, percentage fields may be optional, but completing them helps ensure accurate grading
3. Zero NASSCO Ratings
If an inspection shows a zero NASSCO rating, it typically means:
No defect codes were recorded during the inspection
Only non-graded codes were used (e.g., AMH, MWL, AMN/MSA)
Note: This is expected behavior for pipes in good condition with no observable defects.
How to View NASSCO Issues
To identify and review NASSCO issues:
Navigate to the inspection grid view
Apply the “With Issues” filter
Locate inspections flagged with a NASSCO issue indicator
Open the inspection to view detailed validation errors
Note: If an inspection shows a NASSCO issue indicator but no specific error is visible, contact Support. This may indicate a technical issue that requires further investigation.
Best Practices
Leave a 1–2 second buffer between your final code and the end of the video
Review all required fields before completing an inspection
For imported videos, ensure timestamps are correctly mapped
Validate inspections prior to export to catch issues early
