What is QAI

QAI stands for "Quality Assurance for Inspections" - and it's a cheeky play on the "AI" in our name. But really, it's a supercharged quality control product. QAI represents a new era of integrity on inspection videos. SewerAI will help you ensure that project standards were met, that header data is complete, and the videos are ready for condition assessment and submittal.

Advantages

  1. We do an initial round of QC for you

  2. That QC happens faster than is typical in our industry

  3. You don't have us AutoCode videos that aren't ready

  4. You don't submit data that's not ready

  5. You ensure that every line was properly captured

  6. Data can be corrected by whoever captured it and then AutoCode can be conducted

Types of Checks

There are a number of types of things we can check on your data and video. Here are the titles and a brief summary follows.

"Basic" - can be run rapidly on any inspection

  • Video Displays OK

  • Required Fields Present

  • Valid NASSCO Certificate

  • If MSA, Has Reversal

  • Matches Known Asset

  • {Codes} Within Allowable Value [condition codes present at import]

  • {Header Field}: Meets Allowed Value

  • Distance Counter Functioning

  • Speed < 30 ft./min.

"Advanced" - requires AutoCode and a full video review

  • Video Quality Acceptable

  • {Codes} Within Allowable Value [condition codes added during AutoCode]

  • {Header Field} is Correct

What the checks mean

Check Type

Meaning

Example

Video Displays OK

can the video be transcoded for playback in PIONEER. No foundational issues in the raw video

was this a corrupt video file?

Required Fields Present

all Required header fields are completed. This can include additional requirments you have beyond NASSCO

is "Street" filled in?

Valid NASSCO Certificate

checks the NASSCO database of certified individuals for a valid certificate number

did an operator make up a certificate number?

If MSA, Has Reversal

if an inspection ends in an MSA, do we find another inspection with the same asset identifiers in the data you just imported

MH13 to MH 14 ended in an MSA, do we have another inspection for that same line?

Matches Known Asset

if you give us a comprehensive list of the assets to be inspected for a project, we can check whether the imported data matches

did someone mistype the asset IDs for a line in this job?

{Header Field}: Meets Allowed Value

do the values in a Header field match one of the choices you want to use for this project?

is Purpose either "Pre-Rehabilitation" or "Routine Assessment" but nothing else? Is the "Customer" typed correctly?

{Codes} Within Allowable Value

for any codes present at data import, did they exceed in Value % or Dimensions a threshold you set

was the starting MWL > 10? did the operator find any deposits > 20% that would indicate poor cleaning?

Distance Counter Functioning

is the distance counter on screen the whole time and appears to be working

was there no distance visible?

Speed < 30 ft./min.

based on the distance present, does the camera stay below acceptable speed except for momentary changes?

did the camera go too fast for `10 seconds to see the whole pipe?

Video Quality Acceptable

is the video clear? is the whole pipe visible?

was the camera lens blurry for 5 minutes? did the camera dip underwater for 5 feet? did the camera pan when it was driving forward?

{Codes} Within Allowable Value

for any codes we add during AutoCode, did they exceed your threshold on Value % or a Dimension?

were there any Roots > 15%? That might indicate poor cleaning.

Were there any intruding taps > 2 inches?

{Header Field} is Correct

is the value entered in a specified header field accurate

is the "Material" correct?

How to Set It Up

QAI is tied to project "Specs" in Pioneer.

In order to activate QAI on a Project on your account, please contact our Customer Support team - [email protected] or via Intercom chat. We will add QAI to a "Spec" (or Specification) for either PACP, LACP or MACP data on your account. You can then apply that Spec any time you make a new Project in Pioneer. Or if you want QAI on all the time, we can make it the default on your account.

We will work with you to determine which of the possible QAI checks you want run on your data.

QAI Runs Itself

the QAI Statuses

Open, Passed, Failed, Needs Correction

The statuses are a roll-up of the status of the tasks on an inspection. Here is the logic:

  • If ALL tasks Pass. The QAI has passed.

  • If AT LEAST ONE task is Failed. The QAI has failed.

  • If AT LEAST ONE task Needs Correction. The QAI needs correction.

Using the Dashboard

Reviewing QAI Tasks on Videos

Navigate to the QAI tab by clicking “QAI” on the left-hand navigation pane.

All review tasks will be populated on this page, sorted by Status and Date. Open tasks will be displayed at the top.

Each row will represent a single Asset or Inspection. Clicking the blue arrow to the far left of the Asset will expand to display all of the QAI Checks, updated date, and their Status.

To get a better look, open the Inspection Review page by pressing the play button to the far right.

Make sure that your Review Tasks widget is open

Within the Review Task Widget, you can: read previous comment history, leave comments, tag other PIONEER users, and escalate the task.

Clicking the Review Task will expand to display all of the comments for that specific task.

To leave additional comments, or tag another user, press the blue plus sign underneath that task.

This field allows for free text, utilizing the “@” symbol to tag other users, and the “#” symbol to tag a specific observation/timestamp. Press the blue “save” button to send the review task. Please note that you cannot delete review tasks.

To escalate a review task, press the staggered “up” arrow to the right of the current status. Escalating will automatically leave a comment under that specific task stating that your user escalated the task, and when. Please note that if you need to inform someone of this escalation you leave a comment (explained above) tagging the appropriate users.

Changing Statuses Manually

If you have the appropriate permissions, you can resolve Review Tasks on your own. Please note that once you do that, SewerAI will NOT re-check that particular task; we presume you have made a final decision.

You can do this by hovering over the current status to display the status options: Pass, Fail, or Open. Simply click and the status will change.

Correcting Information

Entering the appropriate information to satisfy the "Review Task" can also change the status.

Utilize the “Inspection Headers” or “Observations” widgets to make data corrections that will satisfy the QAI check. Any time that you change data in the “Inspection Headers” or “Observations” widgets, QAI will automatically re-run.

For example, say “Valid NASSCO Certificate?” has the “Needs Correction” status, entering in a valid NASSCO Certificate number will automatically re-run QAI and adjust the status to “Passed”
